Why Each and everyone of us Matter, primarily to us.

As humans, we are social creatures who are often taught to prioritize the needs of others over our own. While it is important to be caring and compassionate towards others, it is equally important to put our own well-being first. Here are some reasons why you should always come before others and prioritize your personal well-being:

  1. You cannot pour from an empty cup: Just like how a cup that is empty cannot give you anything to drink if you are not taking care of your own needs, you cannot effectively care for others. By putting your well-being first, you ensure that you have the energy and resources to support those around you.
  2. Your health matters: Physical and mental health are critical to our overall well-being. If we neglect our own health, we may experience burnout, stress, and other negative health consequences. Prioritizing our own well-being ensures that we have the energy and vitality to enjoy life and be present for the people we care about.
  3. You are responsible for your own happiness: While it is important to build positive relationships and find joy in helping others, ultimately, we are responsible for our own happiness. By putting our personal well-being first, we can make choices that align with our own values and goals, rather than always prioritizing the needs and desires of others.
  4. Boundaries are important: Setting boundaries and saying “no” to requests that don’t align with our own priorities is an important part of self-care. It allows us to avoid overcommitting and feeling overwhelmed, and instead prioritize the activities and relationships that bring us the most joy and fulfillment.
  5. Self-care is not selfish: Despite what some people may believe, prioritizing our own well-being is not selfish. It is a necessary part of being a healthy, happy, and productive member of society. When we take care of ourselves, we are better able to contribute to our communities and make a positive impact in the world.

Prioritizing our personal well-being is not only important but necessary. It allows us to take care of ourselves, set healthy boundaries, and ultimately be better equipped to care for others. So the next time you feel guilty for putting your own needs first, remember that self-care is not selfish – it is a critical part of living a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.
